Virtual Reality, Pico De Loro, One-Legged Boxers, & Obeying God: A Word on Vision

Decades ago, a publicly accessible and affordable virtual reality gadget was just a vision. Today, we’re closer to such a reality of virtual reality.

In the recent election coverage, GMA News offered a 360° view of their studio while news happened. Viewers had the option to watch it on YouTube. But for someone who has a VR gadget, it would feel like being there in the newsroom itself.

A vision years ago is now a reality in formative phase.

Eight years and much pounds ago I climbed Pico De Loro. There were two summits for the group to conquer. A steep hilltop and another huge rock formation which seemed to me impossible to climb. The first summit was already an accomplishment. The second was kinda impossible.

To challenge the wavering ones like me, we made a deal that everyone must go up.

It seemed impossible but thanks to a photo of it which I saw two months prior, my vision pushed me.

A lot of us want to do stuff both easy & impossible. For both, vision is so important!

I met Nao few years ago. His one leg has been amputated. But he was serious about fighting in a professional boxing competition. So everyday, he went to the gym to practice & exercise. He was here in the Philippines just to see that vision become more possible. Japan was strict in not allowing an amputee join such competition. He followed the rules of his boxing coach strictly. He had his eyes on the prize!

How did Nao develop his vision? Nao learned about the story of Craig Bodzianowski, a successful one-legged boxer. He fought for a world title and left a mark in boxing history as “the Gator.”

Having a hard time following the rules? Eyes on the prize. Hard time obeying God? Fix your eyes on Jesus, the very author and lone perfector of our faith. But one thing about following rule: it’s easier to follow when you have a relationship with the rule-giver.

Today, you don’t have to live as if you will never be able to consistently live right. You don’t have to live as if you will never be able to obey God consistently. Have a vision of eternity. Have a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Where you are at must never dictate what you will become! Because our God is constantly transforming us. Take it from Paul who professed God’s power in his life without a doubt!

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at works within us…” -Ephesians 3:20

God is able to work in our lives that can not be measured, something that we can’t even imagine!
