Trending ngayon sa Twitter are hashtag na #MayKasalananAkoSayo on Holy Wednesday (Monster Radio is doing the The Top 10 #MayKasalananAkoSayo that’s why). I have two questions to hopefully help us reflect this Holy Week with this hashtag.
1. Is this hashtag trending in our hearts as well?
We can trend it on Twitter but is it really trending in our hearts?
As a student back then, I was always wondering how it feels to steal a bar of chocolate from the convenience store. Add to that the fun that me and my friends would have talking about crazy stuff we did. So I did!
A year after, God changed my life. When I was looking back at the wrong things I’ve done, that bar of chocolate magnified itself in my imagination. Repentant, this hashtag trended in my heart, “LORD, #maykasalananakosayo …”
Convicted, I went to the convenience store and left an amount of money ten times the price of the chocolate bar.
2. If it is trending in our hearts, are we saying it to Jesus Christ or someone else?
Anyone can say #MayKasalananAkoSayo sa girlfriend, sa boyfriend, sa asong parang best friend, sa best friend, sa parents, sa text mate, sa crush mong hindi ka crush. Pero sinasabi ba natin yan to Jesus Christ?
We commit mistakes against people but ultimately we our sins are against GOD.
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23
Lahat tayo may kasalanan sa Diyos. But it doesn’t stop there.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
God didn’t leave us behind with no choice but a sinful life. He made a way. And it’s through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. When we put our faith in what Christ has done for us on the cross, we receive eternal life.
This Holy Week, take the time to allow God speak to you. The things you need to hear from God, the things you need to repent for. Acknowledge it and turn to Jesus Christ.
Leaving you with a song to worship God with.
